I love using my packing cubes, and I throw my compression cubes on top to put my dirty clothes in, which leaves me with extra room for souvenirs to bring back
What do you use to curl your hair? It is co cute!
How do I fold a dress for traveling
thanks!
How can you pack, in a personal bag, all you need PLUS a neck pillow and a folded blanket?? Anyone help? I'm going to see my best friend in UK in a month. Haven't been in 9 long years.
Thank you very much so much for this video. It was very interesting.
My Mum always told me to pack an outfit in my personal item "just in case". Generally I try to pack carry-on or personal item only, I use a combo of a Vacuum(less) bag, where I roll out the air, packing cube & fold/roll with the remainder. Generally when I get ready for a trip I pull items I want to take, then as I pack I pare items down drastically, doing the 1 "what if", but matching it with what I already have so it isn't that "one wear only" item that you mentioned. (like a skirt or nice top)
Hello, thanks for your informative posts. I have a question for you please. I live in Toronto Ontario Canada, l go to Jamaica for three to five months. As years have gone by, the luggage weight has been getting more and more complicated for me. Going away for this amount of time, is problematic. I can’t take the same amount as people who are going for one or two weeks. Any suggestions please? I need outfits for weddings, funerals, church, and social outings, never mind the casual days, swim stuff, ect. Any suggestions are appreciated. Jacqueline
Roll or fold. Ultimately it’s not about how much you pack in your carry on, it’s about staying under 7kg so pack less & either use a laundry service or hand wash in the sink.
Thanks to your tips along with many others tips, I was able to pack for a 21 day cruise and land vacation in a carry-on and a backpack in August 2024 to the British Isles (aka cold & rainy even in August). Being that it was a cruise I had casual outfits and dressy/formal outfits. There was lots of Tetrising occurring but it was so worth it to know that I didn't have to worry about anything being lost. Keep up the good work. 💜
Please if you bring an underseater don’t put it in the overhead until everyone with carry on has had a chance to put their bag in the overhead. Some people may have a tight connection due to weather or maintenance delay and need to be able to grab their bag and run. They can’t do this if it’s gate checked. Also a tip as a retired RN, exercise and lift weights. At almost 63 I can still lift 40 lbs over my head. I can still walk 5 miles in one go easily. And I have asthma. You will walk more on vacation than you do at home so the 2 weeks prior to flight start walking an hour or two a day. It’s easy peasy. Wear a watch, note the time and walk 1/2 hour away from home. Then walk back. Get up to an hour out by fly day. Lift 1.5 liter water bottles over your head up and down, this will strengthen your muscles and firm up your arms. This also helps reduce osteoporosis, muscles pulling on your bones to move them makes for denser bones.
Packing cubes are great but I need them to be completely clear, otherwise I’m now rummaging through all of my cubes. I also wear a lot of hats, especially in the tropics. I long for the days when ladies would roll up to a hotel with 16 cases including hat boxes😂
The problem with all this tight packing is that you get very heavy very quickly.
I bought adhesive plastic envelopes that hold index cards for my compression cubes so i could label what’s in each bag. Helps me make sure I’ve packed everything I need.
well…I was waiting for the big reveal at the end, and it never came. Which method did you find took up less space?
And I bet that you look like you pulled your clothes out of a wrinkled clothes basket.
Thank you for your informative video. I’m an infrequent traveler so I find your tips very helpful. I think your cute dog doesn’t like it when you pull out the suitcase; it means Mommy is going to be leaving again!😢
Thanks. Have you done a video on packing when airline has weight requirements for carryon.
Assuming you aren't eating in the formal dining room either?
Thank you dear Laurie! I tried all 3 methods after pressing and let them sit in cubes for a week…. They are All surprisingly not a wrinkled mess. You rock!❤️
I’m a huuuuge fan of compression cubes. I pack a bottom or two and all the tops that go with them, into one cube. That way I just pull the cube and have outfits ready to wear, without fumbling and trying to decide. (For less mess during selecting, I roll my tops and place them on the bottom of the cube and then fold the bottom or bottoms on top, before zipping up.) – I also pack a cube with the other tops that go with my travel day bottoms, as well as several undies, a few socks, my pjs and a pair of yoga or sweat pants… and then place that into my personal item bag, just in case my bigger carry-on or my checked bag aren’t arriving with me. That way, I have something to sleep in and to change out, for a few days, until my bag gets to me or I’ve had a chance to find and shop for some replacements.
A trash bag works for dirty clothes.
Pup knows you're going somewhere.
Laurie, I see the majority of these videos showing how to pack on just carry on, which is the goal BUT airlines also have weight restrictions on carry ons and seems them not attainable. I haven't seen a video where the carry on is weighted.
Im going to Spain and the airline restrictions is 22 inch carry on with a 23 lbs weight. 😢😢 that's crazy. The personal item only of 4 lbs. Lort, my daily purse weight more than that😭
So I enjoyed your video, but I didn’t hear the results. Were you able to stuff more in your suitcase with folding or rolling or compression tubes?
What I usually do is I fold my clothes on the way to my trip and I roll them all on the way back so I can put some souvenirs or other things I bought because there’s some room left. 🙂
when you did the folding you folded them so many times it almost look like you rolled them so maybe it’s not a true comparison between folding and rolling ??
Your a cute little dog seems to walk back-and-forth across most of your videos while you’re making the video.
I use compression cubes. It's much easier to unpack that way. I buy clothes that won't wrinkle. But my next trip in a few days is mostly a beach trip, so I only need swimsuits mostly. There are washers and dryers in the room so I am doing laundry twice. We have a red eye back.
I use a mix of “rolling” & folding in the medium, large and one longish cube. The “rolling” is more like the burrito fold the Kon Marie teaches. But I use that technique for my daily clothing. So I’m pretty fast at it. And my mamma is happy I’m organized 😁☺️ The thicker clothes I fold such as sweat shirts or sweaters or jeans. I do not use compression cubes because I use check in. I manage the weight of my suitcase to be under 45 pounds. I also make sure I weigh my suitcase before I pack. So I know the difference I have to work with.
Am loving your travel hacks! Haven't flown in 30 years, so these are really helping! Thanks!
