"Go to Japan when nothing is going on and it's cold as Eskimo balls". There's a reason there are crowds in the summer/spring. It's far more fun and entertaining. It's comparable to Florida heat with less sun it's not that bad. Less air-conditioned buildings, but also less aggressive wildlife/bugs. Go in the winter if you're visiting some rural villages just to sight see.
Thanks to climate change, Japan's summer now begins around mid April and continues until late November. Sweating from the heat on Halloween night is no fun.
April and May are goated. I went mid april till end of golden week. It was completely manageable in Tokyo during golden week. You walk a lot and it‘s not too hot yet. Can’t optimise further.
I stayed in tokyo from June to August. Very hot but most tourist sites are not crowded. Hydrangeas bloom in June. May is nice and cool and not too cold and you can visit gardens to see some blooms. It may rain in November and it will be cold and wet. End December to early January is not too crowded and there is sales but many small and really good restaurants are closed from 31/12 to 4/1.
I went at the end of June and into July, and went south to Fukuoka. It is very hot&humid but honestly if you’re in shape and stay hydrated not a big deal there is air conditioning everywhere.
Well this has boosted my confidence as i spontaneously booked a 5 week trip to japan from may 11th til June 14th and i seem to have missed ALL the crazy times – now im SUPER excited
I went second week in May a couple years ago and the weather was perfect. If you're a sports fan it's also baseball season so checkout a game. Look at the Sumo schedule if you want to see a tournament. Sadly I missed out on that.
This is correct. And also why prefer to go during summer time. Less interests, less crowd, lesser clothings to pack, therefore (a lot) less expensive. A portable umbrella + a small sunblock + a sunglasses never hurts anyway.

You could’ve just say “come in march” and the video would have taken 10 secs

May is a good time to go, but it can be quite warm.
I'm going to Japan first time mid Sept 😂 hope the weather isn't as brutal as you say 🤞
Birthday is May 5. Is that always going to be a bad time to go?
What about end of May to first week in June

Jokes on you, I love storms.
The mid to end of March is when kids and workers go on break so it’s super crowded.

In conclusion:
You can visit Japan anytime as long as it's your preference ( and ofcourse when you have money for it ) .
stay away from the overly busy places and any time is OK,

any kind of precipitation elevates the Japan vibes
