Take pictures of your luggage, carryon and checked. It was a reliable way to your luggage when it doesn't make the flight you're on and comes later and you have to go through lost luggage and all. It saved me a huge headache since the airlines didn't contact me or deliver my luggage to me as they stated they would.

Bring extra carabiners. Attach to your water bottle use just the hook part and hook to the rim of the seat pocket so it’s not pulling the pocket and hits your knees. Also use a small make up type bag with a hole in the zipper or a loop on the side to hook the bag to the outside of the seat pocket, it can hold your phone, tablet, lip balm, small headphones.only hook one side so it’s not hitting your knees. If you have one of those travel cup holders for your suitcase if you are traveling with someone hang it between the seats on the edge of the pocket now you each have a water bottle holder or place to keep your smaller essentials

Hello Lauri great advice about TSA preparation for body checks. One thing I highly disapprove of is touching other people's bag or hand luggage. One incident that has been in the int'l news that an old lady asked a fellow pax to help with her bags. Unfortunately the person's fingerprints already embedded in her hand carry bag bec. he helped her & so happened that this old lady has an agenda of using this Samaritan's help to pinned him on something. Her proof…his fingerprints. So not good advice on that one. YOUR LUGGAGE…YOUR RESPONSIBILITY. If someone needs help ask the crew for help NOT fellow pax. I hope this help to be cautious on dealing with people on the plane.

Before leaving home take a small piece of tape and attach your license to the back of your phone. As soon as I go through TSA I attach the license back to my phone, put both in the front pocket of my carry on. When I get to a convenient area I put my license back in my wallet with the tape folded over to the back, ready for my return flight.

Hiding money in inconspicuous places/items is fine but please DO NOT put money into any item that is disposable or that could easily be thrown away by you or someone else LIKE A TISSUE BAG! 14:18 Hide in an item that someone else would not suspect to have money in it but not into something that would be put in the garbage.

A black, 2 inch wide headband works really well as an eye mask (if it's not too tight). Saves having to go around to tape up the clock, the TV, & the fire alarm, and to coat-hanger the curtains.

The sticky notes came in handy when there was a fan in the room, but it had a very bright blue light that illuminated the whole room. It took a stack of sticky notes to cover the glow. 😂

Traveling around India for weeks and weeks and being in a different room every night, I found myself anxious and worried and unable to settle in strange places. So I have some slightly unusual tips: Buy a light cotton blanket or two from the Gandhi-ji store and put one over the bed every night and one over the table in your hotel room. The familiar decor gives a sense of security and being in a familiar place. Always get to your destination 2 hours before sundown so you can be sure you want to stay there and still have time to go elsewhere. Always walk the hallway and around the property so you know where the exits are and how to get out in emergency. If you are on the ground floor try to have an inner garden/atrium room that does not open onto the street, or have a second floor room. If you are on the ground floor, be sure to check the water drainage in the bathroom. If its just a hole in the wall at floor level, be sure you have a big very heavy rock to put in front of a wooden plug to keep the cobras out. Always a bummer in the dark! Cobras are very big and very strong to push so make sure you talk to the desk and get be sure that hole is blocked! Do not go out after dark! Make sure you are settled in your room with the door locked before dark and check for hidden cameras because they are there!

Take two pushlights. One for the bathroom and one for the bedside. or two nightlights. Keeping a push light to see in a dark suitcase is wonderful!

If you go to some of the good travel bag shop in Europe or UK (which is in Europe ) and you can buy a small bag (over the head ) on the airoplane which has a Nice computer or vired mobile phone charger build on the side or top so you just have it next to you when you waiting and can charge your phone or laptop

I bring a flexible light for bikes. I use it at home and for travel for a small light (saves the phone battery ) and it's small enough to wrap around my finger so easy to put in the backpack or bag. Always good to have for night or power outage.

Why throw away the socks? Roll them up and tuck them in a corner of your suitcase or whatever. If you have to throw them away, get a pair of really cheap footie socks, even like what you can get from a shoe store. By the way, it’s “rifle” through your belongings, not riffle or truffle (I couldn’t quite make out what you said).

Here’s a funny about those heavy door stops you mentioned—I am a high school teacher in WV—my district gave all of us those door stops to use in case of an intruder. They are so hard to use that I told my principal that I will just use mine to whack the intruder in the head… I think you could possibly knock someone out with one!😂

The reason I like you Laurie, is that a lot of these tried and true travel hacks are ones that I’ve discovered from years of foreign travel adventures (and advice from my Mom’s mountain travel hiking from all over the world). When it’s something that I learned that’s tried and true from years of wise experience, it gives me trust in ALL your advice. Experienced travelers are the ones to learn from, ladies. If you hike and get wet feet in cool weather. Use two plastic bags for loaf of bread or 5 liter ones as a membrane between your shoes and the dry socks you store in a pocket in your jacket. This will turn your wet shoes into Wellington's in an instant. Take up small space and prevent you from getting a cold.

One thing I have learned is instead of writing down the address of the hotel that you’re in simply take a business card from the front desk. That way or take two or three that way you can present it to the Uber Driver or Taxi driver or however you need to.

I always carry the following as they can come in handy: several clothes pins, several safety pins, some rubber bands, a few large paper clips, and, as others have mentioned, duct tape. Once, in China, I was able to fix a nonstop running toilet with a robber band and a paper clip.

I love these videos. I don’t travel a lot like my husband does. He is retired from
the army and did a lot of traveling for his job. But when I do, I use for my hot curling irons/flat iron the holders that have the heat resistant lining so you can put your curler and flat iron in even as soon as you stop using it. The best ones to buy are from Walmart or Amazon. I have gotten a couple from Sally Beauty. Even better ones are made of silicone. The silicone can handle heat up to 400 degrees so you can put them right in your suitcase also.

-Make your own single use soap flakes by using a potatoes peeler on your favorite bar of soap.
-bring a sarong (preferably one with no fringes). Can use as a blanket on plane, shawl, bathing suit cover up, towel that dries fast, skirt, sheet, etc. So handy for so many things.
-bring small Silicone muffin holders. Can use to put jewellery in at hotel. Can use is a snack box to keep food separate .
-sew a carabiner into the top inside of your day bag. Hook your valuables into the carabiner. If someone slits the bottom of your bag, they won't get the prime stuff falling out.

6:35 friendly advice to Americans – tipping culture in wealthier parts of Europe is NOT like the USA. People help customers with disabilities & wheelchairs etc. because it is the decent thing to do, not because they are expecting your loose change.
To many British people for example, giving tips to someone indicates that you consider them a social & economic inferior. Tips are meant for such as servants, street performers and beggars.
Giving money as tips to professional salaried employees may be seen as condescending, vulgar & disrespecting their status. Professional uniformed airline / train company employees have qualifications and training, probably earn more than many of the the passengers they serve and many will be insulted and if you offer them any kind of "tip" be that chewing gum or money, like dangling cheap trinkets at natives expecting them to be impressed. British staff would feel mildly insulted, Japanese staff would be horrified. They won't haggle over prices in shops and they won't hustle for tips in their jobs, it is considered beneath them. A genuine "thank you" is enough. Just so you know.

I wouldnt recommend this for international trips because some countries can be particular. However, I put OTC pills in a ziplock and labled the ziplock with a sharpie as to what's inside. For example, acetaminophen (tylenol) 500mg, ibuprofen 200mg, vitamin C 500mg, etc. I generally know by looking which one is which, so I put them all in one bag, but you could put each kind in a separate one. It saves space and makes lesa noise than the bottles.

I used to have a house listed on Airbnb. One guest used electrical tape to cover ALL LEDs in the house- on the cable box, router, TV, VCR, DVD player, smoke alarm…. everything that has an LED. They didn't take the tape off when they left, and when I removed it, the electrical tape left sticky residue on EVERYTHING. Please be considerate, and DON'T make another person's job harder.
