Just FYI, Verizons Ultimate Plan includes international usage. It's way better than the $10 daily or $100 monthly options they've had in the past.

I can't believe I watched a video just for the ad in the middle. Everything else was entirely redundant obvious information that would be useful to very few people who haven't travelled at all and/or have minimal logical skills.

Leather Boots and Good Wool Socks suitable for cities, towns, villages and the wilderness. I only bring sneakers if I know that I will be wearing shorts.

alternative to merino wool socks are synthetic ones.
i've been using LORPEN TCP and CIP for years – they are great for wicking moisture, preventing odor (specifically those TCP and CIP) and are durable.

You can get neck pillows with removeable covers and stuff them with clothing. On long haul flights my neck pillow is ESSENTIAL

I always pack an extra pair of shoelaces or strong dental floss. I broke a shoelace once and it was hard flopping around until I could replace it

Neck pillows are a critical item for me. One strained neck from falling asleep in an unnatural position was enough! I agree with the bulk issue, but maybe consider the Sea to Summit Aeros pillow. 3” x 2”, and super lightweight.

No towel, no neck pillow, no shower gel ( nearly every hotel etc has shower gel ) , no travel guides, no toiletry bags, ( I put my tooth brush etc into a freezer bag, save on bulk) I keep old socks and boxers and take them on holiday. I don’t bring them back. Same with any T shirts that are at the end of the road. One last wear is on holiday and I leave them behind. Means more space for any shopping that I might do, or just makes the suit case lighter.

What is your opinion for a man bringing a scarf to Europe, particularly in April? Would you recommend merino, cashmere, fleece…? Or just leave it at home?

Get a luggage scale if you don't keep a scale in your home because you are a stick figure.

When I lived in Bolivia & Peru ( 2000-2009) Lonely Planet was my Bible… Especially because a lot of the places didn't have electricity or internet connection… I'm not sure how it is now… But depending on the destination I would take a Lonely planet

I prefer my own personal self care products (hubby doesn’t mind using hotel provided products) so I have a toiletry kit, with bar (solid) shampoo, conditioner and soap. If I have full size bars, I will cut them into 1/4s which are enough for at least a week. Also in the kit are mini facial, lotion and hair products that I use daily at home (many of the products I use give free samples, save them for travel) I pack a microfiber towel for drying hair (but also for bath towel in a pinch) and wash cloth with the toiletry kit. I can get everything in a quart size bag. Also have a mini makeup kit. Products like Dr. Bronner’s Castile soap can not only be used as shampoo, hand, face and body soap, but also as laundry and dish soap – so if you need to wash out your swim wear and rinse your hydration bottle, this is an excellent product to cover all sorts of cleaning needs.

My two cents regarding airline baggage fees. That fee will usually cost more than if you just bought a few things new at your destination, and for souvenirs that you want to bring back, shipping costs are often cheaper than airline fees of you're willing to wait an extra week or four to get your items.

Europeans get a chuckle out of people visiting a church looking like they are trekking through the forest. Think, what would I wear at home if I was going for a walk downtown.

Walmart is everywhere in the US. Domestic travel can be much less stressful when you remember this. Also thrift stores are everywhere. Hotels have essential supplies also. Leave the big bottles at home. Some hotels stock shampoo, soap, and conditioner in the shower. Look at the hotel amenities list before you pack. Use plastic disposable cups in the hotel rooms. Glass may not be as clean as you think. Use their towels. You are not a lab test experiment, you are a dirty human too! 😂 I take shower sandals everywhere. Avoid foot fungus!

I notice that men talk about minimum travel, living, etc. These ideas are usually not realistic for women, women with kids, etc.
